Sony and Yamaha

Onkyo has a nice 7.1 HTIB system for around $400. It’s not the best you can buy, but you sure get a lot of bang for your buck. They’re small speakers so they won’t be too visually obtrussive (if that’s what you mean by looks cool).

This varies greatly on your price range. For under $500 I’d look for a Onkyo or Yamaha.

This recommendation does not come with a DVD player or Receiver, you have to add that, but it is a $1200 British designed complete home theater speaker system for just over $630. It also comes with Monster THX-certified speaker cable, subwoofer cable and terminations:

Home theater in a box that looks cool….it’s kind of hard for cheap *** components to look cool, let alone look cool, work great and have high quality.
I’ll list a few suggestions on performance for the price.
$150 - 5.1 Onkyo
$220 - 6.1 Onkyo
$310 - 7.1 Onkyo
Make your own 6.1 system of the best performance / value:
$250 - Marantz sr4600 AV receiver
$150 - 3 pairs of Polk 5.25 bookshelf speakers**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
$170 - BIC 12 subwoofer
Add high quality speaker wire, banana plugs and a subwoofer cable from monoprice.com for about $50.
For $620 that is easily the best system you can buy. A real AV receiver, speakers from an actual speaker company and a legitimate 12 subwoofer.
For a little more, you can pair the same receiver above with this 5.1 speaker system from av123.com. It uses real wood veneers and is only sold online, cutting out the middle man. You’ll find nothing off this value at a local store.
$747 - 5.1 X-series speaker system
$250 - Marants receiver
$50 for cables, etc. from monoprice
Total of $1,050

Yamaha has prolly the best bang for the high end buck.
They make Home Theather in a Box 300-650 for the whole setup and it rocks the joint.
Check them out, I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

You should give us your budget.
What some people call good/high quality others call crap.

Good quality and in a box don’t quite go together.
