The Sony DAV HDX589W is an integrated technique which includes a single tray-loaded, 5-disc DVD/Video, CD/Audio, CD changer/receiver, & a 6-piece speaker technique with a passive subwoofer. In addition, the system includes the TDM-iP20 Digital Media Port iPod Adapter which allows you to connect your iPod to the system and a S-AIR Wireless Surround Sound Rear Amplifier which allows you to place the pair of rear speakers in your room without running speaker wire from the DAV HDX589W to the speakers. The supplied remote control can control this unit, plus a Sony TV. The unit will support the following players: iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod Nano 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation, iPod 4th & 5th generation & iPod Mini.

Wireless rear speakers for added convenience : A separate rear-channel amplifier receives signals wirelessly from the system’s main unit and powers the two surround speakers. You won’t have to worry about running messy wires all the way to the back of your room. Plus, the amplifier features a convenient headphone output, so you can sit back on the couch and listen in private to music or movie soundtracks.

Easy automatic setup : Sony can automatic adjust the surround sound settings to match your specific room and furnishings. Simply abode the included microphone in your admired alert position, and the arrangement optimizes apostle ambit and adjournment settings in alone about 30 seconds. An easy setup disc includes helpful prompts to guide you through the process.

The DAV HDX589W includes two “tallboy” left and right front speakers, a center channel, and left and right surround-satellite speakers. All of the speakers are made of molded plastic with irremovable grilles. The front tallboys rest on adjustable stands that require a bit of assembly out of the box. Each speaker can be hang at the wall. Up front, the centermost approach is a bit bulky, conceivably to accompaniment the crabbed tallboys on either side. The surround speakers are small, only going about 3 inches deep. All of the satellites, along with the subwoofer, use proprietary connection wires that are color-coded for easy setup. The subwoofer and its 6-inch driver are neither powered nor do they have adjustable volume.
