I auditioned the OPPO BDP-93 against the new Denon 1611 Bluray player. Though the Denon was considerably much better than my old PS3 it didn’t come close for the smoothness and crispness in the OPPO BDP-93. Feel it or not there is a fairly big big difference in image high quality… not to say the Denon was negative but as an alternative to state that the OPPO was just that considerably better than the currently really great Denon. The sound good quality whilst watching the newest Die Tough film was also considerably greater with all the OPPO than with the Denon. I also looked at some Pioneer Elite Bluray players and they had been not near as very good because the OPPO or Denon. Another great issue in regards to the BDP-93 is how fast it loads and also the feel of it. Its not plastic or created of low cost supplies… its solid and has some weight… feels far more solidly constructed if there exists such a issue.
Most AV retailers will guide you toward the Denon since they probably sell Denons but you must truly search into OPPO, they may be that very good. With that stated, I believe OPPO is definitely an on-line item only??? Either way make certain to weigh your alternatives.
Ok….I guess they do!! Soon after sitting on the fence for too lengthy, I pulled the trigger on this unit. Image good quality could be the very best I’ve ever observed. I replaced a very high finish Denon DVD player with this Oppo. Of course the Denon didn’t play BluRay….nevertheless it was great with DVD. The OPPO BDP-93 is greater. The common notion thrown about is BluRay players are practically all even as far as PQ when outputting BluRay by way of HDMI. I can’t say I agree with that, because the Oppo appears greater than my PS3 did with BluRay. Apart from HD-DVD this unit does it all. I have often had at the least 2 disc players in my technique…not counting recorders. A single unit my be excellent with audio, but not a lot with video. May be truly great at each, still require an additional player for BluRay. Lastly, for Everything except the couple of HD-DVD discs I have, I can use One particular player!!
I loved the high quality from the unit. It can be developed like a brick, looks excellent, feels excellent. Yes it really is created in China, I would have rather noticed it created in Japan, but my Denon also came from China, as I guess virtually every single disc player does now.
I do possess a couple of complaints so individuals won’t believe I’m just a “fanboy”……..it would are actually wonderful to have a dedicated analog stereo output. I get by utilizing the L/R outputs with the multi-channel out, and yes you are able to get it from the big brother to this unit the BDP-95. Remote is awful. Buttons are mushy. Responsiveness is slow. Line of sight is poor. I get great outcomes using my Harmony remote, so when once again, not a deal breaker. Lastly the cover with the front USB port is really a discomfort the rear to get on and off. Some of that is certainly the way it sits in my rack, and I do not use it….so hey I cannot complain.
I have had no problems come as much as need a speak to with Oppo customer service. I hope this continues to be the case, but when not, I hear customer service from Oppo is best notch.
On a last note…..Amazon packing left a little to be desired. It was double boxed, but with only a thin layer of “air bags” just on top rated from the player box. This sort of packing to me is worse than just currently being single boxed, as it leaves as well much cost-free space inside the outer box for your inner to slam around. I typically am pleased with Amazon packing, so I am thinking this must be a fluke.
More than all, a very excellent item and excellent obtain with Amazon.
