dvd players
shane903 asked:

well the first part pretty much states it all. I’ve done this with one disk and it works on dvd players but i was wondering if it needed a certain encoding for what is required for the dvd player. Thanks for any answers
and i forgot to tell you that i dont know how i got the first disk to work it was not a supervideo or a mini-dvd, it was just a file what you would see on your computer

  1. If the player supports AVI or MPeg movies then it will work.
Of course if you have a DVD that you want to put onto a CD it will need to be converted , usually to AVI first.
This will loose a lot of quality compared to the original DVD., but you will be able to fit a 1 hour show onto a 700Mb disc.

  2. There are a couple of options:

    1) A KVCD will work on many DVD players and fits on one CD-r

    2) An SVCD or plain old VCD will play on many DVDs and they fit on one or two CD-r’s

    3) Many DVD players also play divx/xvid avi’s which are typically 700mb and can fit on one CD-r. You don’t need to reencode those. Look for the Divx ccertified or MPEG-4 logo on the player. Those also typically play KVCD, SVCD, VCD, straing up mpg files and a whole lot more.

I have the Philips DVP5960 which is a fantastic player. It even has a USB port on the front so I can just download to a thumb drive or even external HD and just play off that.

    4) The other movie may have been a mini-DVD, but doubtful if it was a full length movie.
