I have a HDTV LCD 42″ Sony TV. I highly believe LCD is better for Home Theatre use because Plasmas only have a life of 5 years, while the LCD TVs have a life of 10-15 years. Also, LCD TVs have better quality and reliablitly. I bought my Sony TV from Sears, but the stand does not come with it. Lastly, if you buy a 50″ model (the same as mine) from Costco, the matching stand is included. My final statement is:
Buy and LCD Sony, Plasmas are just for showing-off. (Yahoo reported this in one of their articles, saying that Plasmas are for showing off)
