crad1985 asked:
im currently looking at 5.1 home theatre systems to replace the lousy stereo system that is hooked up to my plasma tv. my mom in particular wanted to keep the stereo because of the radio function. i wanted to replace the stereo with a home theatre system but as well allow my mom to listen to the radio (without hooking up different machines together to keep it simple for her). I am wondering if anyone know of any theatre sytems, preferably 5.1s, that plays cd/dvd and as well recieve fm/am radio signals. you help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Samsung makes a good one HT-DB390 Only the back speakers are wireless. Nice and for the cost does everything you are looking for.

99.9% of all stereos offer AM/FM radio function. Personally I could care less, i never use.
CD/DVD function….you want it all in one huh…you will get the best results from having a seperate DVD player and Audio Reciever, but most americans prefer convience over quality. But, technology changes so quickly, you cant really say a HT thats good, theres wayyyy too many for it.
A decent one runs around $200+. i spent around 1500 on mine, but i am a audio freak, so i kind of prefer quality. (This is my first stereo, cuz im 16) So 1500 is pretty nice for me.
Try looking at Circuit City, Best Buy, Costco, Frys and Fred Meyers. I dont like the slim tower speakers…i think they ****. Try satilite speakers, even though i **** those too, there better i believe. Bose, Klipshe, Yamaha and Onkyo are more high end ones. Sony, Panasonic, Phillips, Samsung and Pioneer are more average HT systems. And some low end HTs are Insignia, RCA, Zenith, and Nexxtech. Theres a lot more…but jus a little too many to name.
Hope this helps. If your just looking for a system to play CD’s, DVDs, and Radio, dont pay over 300. I would pay around 200 or so.
