  1. i think you got ripped off, did you know the guy well? if so maybe ask him what is the problem, if you don’t know him maybe you should ask him for your money back. Last thing you can do is call the cable guy and he will help you. Good luck

  2. yeah, sounds like a soliciting company an ex boyfriend of mine worked for. Sold surround sound out of the back of a truck or van. Don’t want to mention the name, but it’s possible.

  4. Humming noise can mean a lot of things that could be remedied on your part.

But you also said “the speakers made this terrible skreeaching noise”. Normally that only happens during feedback, usually from microphones & guitars. (Phonograph turntables can also have feedback problems, but that’s usually a low bassy noise.)

So it definitely sounds like a defective receiver to me. Since you bought it brand new & it’s only 3 days old, it’s still under warranty. Take it back to the guy & get a new one. If for some reason that’s not possible, send it back to the manufacture for repair, or replacement. Make an extra copy of your sales receipt for your records just in case there’s a problem during the repair or replacement process.
