Steve H asked:

I have switched left to right speakers and the noise comes out of the other speaker so the speakers are fine. The noise is there no matter what mode I use and if the volume is up or down the noise does not change. There is nothing new added to the cabinet that houses everything. Any ideas?
Speakers are fine I switched them. Noise happened on the switched speaker as well.
The sound is there no matter what I run dvd etc. And when you adjust the volume even mute it is there. I did have the wires near a power bar and I will move it. Wire is that copper colored wire with silver and copeer leads.
I have removed the power bar and replaced the cable. Sound is still there.

  1. Your speaker is blown and you need to replace it.

  2. You need to be more descriptive in order for us to diagnose the problem…what kind of noise is it? What model is the receiver and speakers? Speaker wire type? What sources are you running (DVD player, digital cable, CD player) and is the noise present no matter which one you’re playing? Is the speaker or the wire to it running near a power strip or electrical source that could cause interference? Let me know and I’d be happy to help you out further.

  3. Could easily be the power bar causing interference.Buy a strip of speaker cable and replace the cable to see if it makes a difference but I would switch off the power bar(if you can) first and see if makes a differnce.Keep us informed

  4. Its that output, if its stereo not to bad but if its in dolby or in surround then the D.S.P needs replacing, either way the output stage needs to be sorted out ion that output. Hopefully ur lucky and its just a trani on the putput stage.

  5. Got to agree there, unplug everything from the amp, move the amp away from everything and plug back in, connect the speaker and it you still get a hum then I suspect the internals of the amp are faulty.
Try the amp round a friends house as well just in case your 240v mains supply is the source of the interference (very unlikely though)
