A home theater system usually has multiple speakers. Proper positioning of the home theater speakers provides the greatest benefit when you use the home theater to give the most remarkable experience. Frequently home theaters have five or 7 speakers. Additionally, an ideal home theater setup has a centralised subwoofer. Positioning the front home theater speakers correctly is more important than the position of rear speakers.
When you are thinking about where to place the front speakers for a 5.1 home theater system, it is a smart idea to have them as near to ear level as possible. You should position these speakers at the same level with one another. Ideally, the left and right home theater speakers must be at a distance of five to 11 feet from one another. It is a sensible idea to put the front speakers at an angle of 30 to 60 degrees from the listening position. You can put the front speakers on the ceiling or floor as well.
In a 5.1 home theater system, the placement of the rear speakers isn’t as vital as that of the front speakers. In this case, these speakers function much the same way as side speakers. They are called rear speakers because they are placed behind the listener. They are sometimes placed about two to three inches below or above the ear level when you are in a seated position. This is about 60 to 72 inches. Just like the front speakers, the rear speakers can be either ceiling or wall mounted and face in the forward direction.
For higher home theater systems such as the 6.1 or 7.1, the front and back speakers are mounted just like the 5.1 home theater speakers. However , these higher end home theater systems have separate side speakers. These are positioned on the walls or ceiling across the room and face one another.
The placement of home theater speakers is also dependent on the dimensions of the room in which one places the speakers and how far you are seated from the speakers. A 7.1 home theater system is a sensible choice if you have got a big room or the room size is at least 17 feet by 24 feet. For smaller rooms, a 5.1 channel system is the best choice. Frequently the most significant difference between a 5.1 channel system and a 7.1 channel system is very little and the presence of 2 extra speakers doesn’t make a major difference to the sound quality.
