I would like to build sound absorbing panels which I would like to hang on the walls in our home theatre. The purpose would be to reduce any noise rebound. The walls and ceilings are been insulated and covered with drywall.Would a 1 inch low density styrofoam covered with a fabric do the job?

  1. I used 1/2″ plywood with cotton batt layered on it wrapped in a fabric. It works very well and looks nice too.

  2. Styrofoam is not the best for controlling reverberation. Foam rubber is though. Almost all commercial reverb control panels are made of foam rubber or foam rubber covered with fabric:
