home theatre
hoejyland asked:

I’m looking for a home theatre to compliment my recently purchased lcd tv. I am looking to stay under $400. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t have a big room, maybe 10 by 13 so it doesn’t have to put out like a beast for it to be effective.

  1. Wow 400.00 is not going to get you much at all except a home theater in a box system and pretty much all of them in that price range are crap.

Buying a decent reciever alone without speakers and a sub will cost 400.00

  2. You can do really well with $400 if you shop hard enough. For a room that size, you really do not need to go all out on a seperate receiver/DVD player and large speakers. Stick with an all-in-one setup and you will be happy with the sound. Tigerdirect.com has a couple of great options on quality stuff- they have an Onkyo that comes with all speakers, powered subwoofer, and receiver for $289, so that should leave you room enough for a DVD player. It is also available in silver or black to suit your environment, and has received great reviews. If you wanted to step p a bit, they also have a Yamaha setup that is similar to the Onkyo but has HDMI connectivity, component video upconversion (makes lower quality video sources look better) and bluetooth connectivity for $349. Either one would be a smart buy, and I have been impressed with Tigerdirect’s service. Try the links I provided below.

  3. 400.00 will get you a low end home theater in a box.

  4. You can find several good HTiB’s for under $400. And for your room size, they should produce decent quality audio and video for your new TV.

Check out the website below to see the prices, specs and the reviews. They aren’t what you would call “High-End” but this should help you with your budget and find something that might suit your needs.
