Does anyone know the resolution it converts to and how it compares with actual high def players (ie blu-ray and hd-dvd)?

  1. An upconverter seems to improve it a little bit, but it can’t be as good as a real HD or blu-ray movie. The definition simply isn’t on a standard DVD so it can’t look as good.

  2. It rescales the output resolution from a 480 signal to 1080i or 720p. This is more desirable than the TV doing the conversion.

But the resolution is not going to be better than a Blu-ray or HD DVD since the image is only as good as the original and HD BLu-ray encode at a higher rate.
