mansell84 asked:

I am undecided as to which receiver i should get?
Have been offered the Marrantz SR4200 and SR4400. Which one should i buy? The 4200 is cheaper but is it worth spending the extra money?
I want to connect it upto my x box 360,dvd player and sky box.
Any help?

  1. I would buy what ever one you find that is truly compatible with your speakers. Unmatched systems are bad news, because you could damage the speakers. These Home theatre systems are a complete set in a box, so everything is suited to the other parts. All these things you want to hook up to it will work OK, but if your receiver is not matched to the speakers, then I would be careful anyway.

  2. Both of those models are obsolete (more than 5 years old), unless you are getting them for a steal I would get something newer that you can grow into with surround sound.

  4. Although both systems look great but they are a little out of date , to future proof your system i would get a receiver that has a HMDI input that would give you true 1080p and high def fun your looking for. I have the ps3 and xbox 360 and since both are capable of 1080p i would get this, esp if you wish to to upgrade to hd dvd or blu ray in the future also 7.1 surround is coming into play as well so look at my choices below
i have the 3806 myself , check them out

  5. LOL at the first & third answers. Boy some of these answers in the “Home Theater” section amazes me at times.

Granted I’m no expert on audio & video equipment, but good grief.

I’ve even seen the “Top Home Theater Answerer” - XenonAudio giving advice that could damage someone’s amplifier if they followed his advice.
